Luca suffered from a very rare disease: ROHHAD syndrome was diagnosed in only 75 people worldwide.

The parents knew that their son would die from the day the boy was two years old. Luka suddenly began to rapidly gain weight. There were no reasons for this: no changes in diet, no hormonal disorders. The diagnosis was terrible – ROHHAD syndrome. It is sudden obesity caused by dysfunction of the hypothalamus, hyperventilation of the lungs, and dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system. The disease is not cured and ends in death in one hundred percent of cases. None of the patients with the ROHHAD symptom has yet been able to live to 20 years of age.

The boy’s parents could only come to terms with the fact that their son would die. When – nobody knows. But it is known for sure that Luke will not live to come of age. Heart attacks in a child have become the norm in their lives, and fear has become an eternal companion of their parents. But they tried to make the boy live a normal life, like his peers. Luka went to school (he was especially fond of mathematics), went in for sports, went to the theater club and adored his dog. Everyone loved him – both teachers and classmates. And the boy loved life.

“Luka is our sunny bunny. He has incredible willpower and a wonderful sense of humor. He is such a mischievous person, ”- this is how the priest of the church, where Luke and his family went, spoke of him.

The boy knew he was going to die. But that’s not why he was worried. Luke knew how his parents would grieve. And the terminally ill child, who felt at home in intensive care, tried to console his parents.

“I’m ready to go to heaven,” Luca told dad. The child’s father uttered these words at the boy’s funeral. Luka died a month after he was 11 years old. The baby could not bear another heart attack.

“Luka is now free from pain, free from suffering. He went to a better world, – said Angelo, the father of the child, standing over the coffin, painted in all the colors of the rainbow. Luka wanted the farewell to him not to be bitter – he loved when joy reigns around him. – Life is a valuable gift. Enjoy every minute like Luke did. “

During his lifetime, Luke tried to help people. He did charity work in a completely adult way: he helped organize races to help seriously ill people, practically opened a store himself, the proceeds from which also went to save other people’s lives. Even after his death, the boy gave other people hope. He became a posthumous donor and thereby saved three lives, including one child.

“During his short life, Luka has touched so many lives, caused so many smiles and laughter. He will live forever in hearts and memories. I want the whole world to know how proud we are to be Luke’s parents. We love him more than life. My lovely, wonderful boy, I love you, ”wrote Luka’s mother on the day of her beloved son’s funeral.
