Blue psilocybe is a hallucinogenic genus of mushrooms from the class Agaricomycetes, family Strophariaceae, genus Psilocybe.

The fruiting body of psilocybe bluish consists of a cap and a stem. The cap diameter is from 2 to 4 cm, has a rounded shape, but in mature mushrooms it becomes prostrate, with a wavy uneven edge. The color of the cap of the mushroom described can be reddish or brownish, but more often yellowish. Interestingly, the color of the fruiting body of the blue psilocybe changes depending on the weather. For example, when it is dry outside and it doesn’t rain, the color of the fungus becomes light yellow, and with high humidity, the surface of the fruiting body becomes somewhat oily. If you press on the pulp of the mushroom described, it acquires a bluish-green hue, and sometimes bluish spots are visible along the edge of the fruiting body.

The hymenophore of the blue psilocybe is represented by a lamellar type. The plates are characterized by a rare arrangement, light, ocher-brown color. In mature psilocybe mushrooms, the bluish plates become dark brown. Often they grow to the surface of the fruiting body. The constituent components of the lamellar hymenophore are tiny particles called spores. They are characterized by a purple-brown color.

The pulp of the described fungus has a slight mealy smell, it is white in color, it can change shade on the cut.

The stem of the mushroom has a length of 2.5-5 cm, and its diameter varies between 0.5-0.8 cm. In young mushrooms, the stem has a whitish color, but when the fruiting bodies ripen, it gradually turns blue. On the surface of the described fungus, the remains of a private bedspread may be noticeable.

Blue psilocybe (Psilocybe cyanescens) bears fruit in autumn, mainly in humid areas, on soils rich in organic matter, on forest edges, road edges, pastures and wastelands. Their distinguishing feature is the fusion of the legs with each other. This type of mushroom grows on dead vegetation.

A mushroom called blue psilocybe belongs to poisonous, when eaten it causes severe hallucinations, disrupts the proper functioning of the auditory and visual organs.
