Boxes with sweets of seven popular brands were sent for examination: Belochka, Krasny Oktyabr, Korkunov, Fine Life, Inspiration, Babaevsky and Ferrero Rocher. And it turned out that you can fearlessly buy only four of them.

The “Red October” sweets were included in the black list of the expert center. The violation is quite serious: the amount of trans isomers in the candy was 22,2 percent of the total fat. The permissible rate is no more than 2 percent. This is because these compounds are very dangerous to health.

“Trans isomers of fatty acids are incorporated into the lipid part of cell membranes instead of ‘normal’ fatty acids, thereby disrupting the normal functioning of cells. This leads to the development of various diseases, including diseases of the cardiovascular system, atherosclerosis, diabetes, ”explains Irina Arkatova, chief specialist of the expert center of the Roskontrol Consumer Union.

Trans isomers of fatty acids are obtained by modifying conventional liquid vegetable oils – they eventually become solid, and can be used in the production of sweets, cookies, cakes and other confectionery products. They are substituted for butter or cocoa butter to save money.

Two more manufacturers – “Korkunov” and “Belochka” – indicated inaccurate data on the products on the label. The first brand contains vegetable oil with a high lauric acid content, which customers would never have known if it were not for Roskontrol tests… In “Belochka” the icing, proudly called chocolate, turned out to be different: it contains too little cocoa butter, three times less than it should be. In addition, the candies of this brand were covered with a white coating.

As a result, four brands of sweets remained unanswered: “Fine Life”, “Inspiration”, “Babaevsky” and “Ferrero Rocher”. They can be bought and eaten fearlessly.
