The surface is fibrous-scaly to large-scaly, with remnants of a private veil along the edge – “beard”. Color red-brown, darker in the center, lighter at the edges.
Records notched-grown, sparse, light, white or yellowish, sometimes with brownish spots.

The bearded row is similar to the scaly row (Tricholoma imbricatum), which is distinguished by a duller brown color and the absence of a “beard”.
Nirxandin
The mushroom is not poisonous, but it does not have high gastronomic qualities either. According to some sources, it is suitable for salting along with other mushrooms after preliminary boiling.
