Everyone knows that mushrooms are often called “vegetable meat”. However, it should be noted that there is very little protein in them (in fresh – only 2-4%, and in dried – up to 25%). For comparison, in meat this figure is 15-25%. There are also a few fats and carbohydrates in mushrooms, which, in fact, determines their low calorie content (only 14 kcal per 100 g).

Why do mushrooms make you feel full? Nutritionists believe that a large amount of fiber makes them satisfying. Rigid, like chitin (the building material for the shell of many insects), it is digested in the human stomach for a very long time (about 4-6 hours) and puts a lot of stress on the gastrointestinal tract, especially on the gastric mucosa and pancreas.

Therefore, experts advise avoiding mushroom dishes for people suffering from diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as stomach ulcers, gastritis, pancreatitis and cholecystitis.

You should not treat mushrooms to children under 5 years old: their digestive system is not yet mature, which means that such a load may be unbearable for it.
